Delighted to announce a new initiative supporting local Artisans in the Community in collaboration with Ormond Castle.
On Wednesday, 2nd July, from 11AM-4PM coinciding with First Wednesday - FREE ADMISSIONS to OPW sites, we will be hosting an intimate Arts and Crafts showcase in the Audio/Visual Room in the Tudor Manor House, supporting and celebrating local Makers from Carrick-on-Suir, the Suir and Linguan Valley Regions and beyond.
We will be displaying a carefully curated collection of small arts, crafts, and gifts designed and handcrafted by artisans who are members of the Tudor Artisan Hub.
This Showcase offers visitors to the Castle a chance to view the fabulous collection of arts and crafts on offer in Carrick-on-Suir, an opportunity to engage directly with local Makers, celebrating creativity and craftsmanship.
Makers will be on site to interact with visitors to the Castle, to discuss their creative processes, share the inspiration behind their pieces, and offer insights into the techniques they use. This personal interaction will allow for a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship involved and the stories each piece tells. The showcase supports both traditional and innovative arts, providing a unique cultural experience for all.
The featured Makers participating in this inaugural Tudor Showcase we welcome Liz Martin, Maker of Lizanne Craft & Design, Carrick-on-Suir, who will be showcasing her latest collection of Felting Crafts and Geraldine Gleeson, Maker of Glass by Ger from Fethard, Co. Tipperary who will be showcasing her latest exquisite Fused Glass creations.❤
We will also have a selection of small arts, crafts, gifts and greeting cards by other talented Hub Makers.
This will be a great opportunity for the Hub Makers to meet new audiences against the wonderful backdrop of the 16th-century Ormond Castle.
