Our Plans for Heritage Week 2024 to be hosted in the Seán Healy Memorial Library and online.
Radio Carrick, an early 80s Tipperary pirate community radio station was set up in August 1980 by Gerry Gannon in Carrick-on-Suir. The station’s studio was located in Gerry's garage at 13 Dunbane,  Carrick-on-Suir broadcasting on 1512kHz from 8 am to 6pm.  Late in 1981, it joined forces with Clonmel Local Radio to form CBC Radio.
For National Heritage Week 2024 we are endeavouring to create a 'Radio Carrick' Audio/Visual interactive exhibition that links with this year's theme of 'Connections, Routes and Networks'.
Writer Mary McGrath is planning on writing an original short social history drama inspired by this pivotal era to be staged in 2025....this is the story gathering phase.
We will be interviewing key local people who were involved in setting up and operating 'Radio Carrick' in July 2024. We will record these storytelling memories that will form part of the audio/visual exhibition for Heritage Week.
The information gathered will become part of the source material, inspiring the script for the original short drama.
We welcome the Public to reach out and share your memories of 'Radio Carrick' during Heritage Week.
This event has received funding from Tipperary Heritage Office.

The Storytelling Interviews
Up first we have Peg Power and Mary O'Hanlon who were interviewed together by writer Mary McGrath and Linda Fahy. We edited the audio recording and created two separate files so we can hear each Radio Carrick presenter's reminisce about their experience on Radio Carrick at 13 Dunbane 1980-1981. Enjoy!

Misery Rock - by the late Billy McLellan, Fethard, Co. Tipperary
Published 2024. This book will be officially launched later this year in Fethard.
Radio Carrick programme presenter Peg Power had worked closely with Billy for many years on CBC Radio, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. Peg chose to read the first chapter from Misery Rock book for her taster programme.
Reading extracts from books was a very popular aspect of Peg's Radio programme with Radio Carrick and CDC Radio back in the 80's...an audio book!
