Highly accomplished guitarist, singer, storyteller Dónal Clancy, son of the late Liam Clancy, of the world-famous Clancy Brothers, who hailed from Carrick-on-Suir is bringing his unique Folk n' Blues Revue to the Ormond Castle. This show features a unique blend of Classic Blues songs and cool, bluesy arrangements of well-known tunes. It involves Donal weaving the history of songs and his personal connection to them, which includes many musical legends he met whilst playing with his father, Liam Clancy. The show includes songs from Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Cotton, Jackson C Frank, Big Bill Broonzy, and Rev. Gary Davis, along with a few of Donal's own original compositions.
Liam Clancy gave Dónal his first guitar at the age of eight, and he was playing professionally by his early teens. Donal was a member of Trad group 'Danú' for many years, and he has toured and recorded with Riverdance fiddler, Eileen Ivers. He was a guest with 'The Chieftains' on their 'Tears of Stone Tours' in Japan and the US. Dónal Clancy, in his own right, is regarded as one of Ireland’s finest guitarists and ballad singers.
On Saturday 8th November, audiences in Carrick-on-Suir will experience the magic of Donal’s blended Folk and Blues Revue and revel in the nostalgia of a masterful performance and storytelling against the backdrop of the magnificent Long Gallery, in the Tudor Manor House, Ormond Castle, in the hometown of his late Father and Uncles...don't miss out, book early, seating limited!
