The Film - built for 2024 Culture Night

The Making of 'In ár gcroithe go deo' (In our hearts forever) is a Film documenting the 2020 special legacy collaborative arts project. The 'In ár gcroithe go deo' arts project honoured 22 loved ones who passed away in 2020 during Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. This is the story about how a community of artists came together offering a little comfort to the bereaved families who experienced such a tremendous loss under unprecedented circumstance.
The 2020 creative project ‘In ár gCroithe go Deo’ disrupted the helplessness we had all felt as the callous and blunt nature of the Covid regulations, necessary as they were, affected those in the most vulnerable of circumstances in our community. As creatives, we could do something beautiful, we could offer the arts as a means of transcendence, celebration and renewal.
45 artists answered the call to get involved in this special project and what these amazing creatives created with paint and brushes, words and music during lock-down was beyond special. The connections made were beautiful, a true demonstration of Love in Action and of the transformative power of the arts.
Artists involved in the Legacy Arts project 2020 had recorded stories about their paintings honouring the loved one they were paired with, this information was transcribed and presented to the families along with art prints of the legacy artwork during Culture Night 2020. These recordings are now part of this film, a record of the event and will live on virtually.
Poets associated with Writing Changes Lives Writers' Collective with Margaret O'Brien had also recorded their poems under the theme ‘Love in Action’ 2020– these recording are also compiled and now available online.
As well as the main film, we produced individual mini films honouring each of the 22 loved ones, so that they can be shared among family and friends.

Here are the 22 Loved Ones who we honoured through this unique Legacy Arts Project from Carrick-on-Suir or connected to Carrick-on-Suir who sadly passed away during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, lockdown one (March-June 2020). In ár gcroithe go deo (in our hearts forever).
